[quote:just a dude:MV8yMTE5MzgyXzM1NzUxNzI5X0E4N0FGNjRC] [quote:Anonymous Coward 32959179:MV8yMTE5MzgyXzM1NzUwOTYzXzlFRTE5MDNF] You know ants have a concept of garbage disposal? I was watching the carpenter ants hollowing out a wood pillar on the front porch of our house back in the 1980's with my mom. Each ant would come out of the hole with a little chip of wood he chewed off and walk to the edge of the porch and drop it over. Then he'd go back for another one. I was pretty surprised by this and wondered if ants disposing of garbage was what I was really seeing. Then one came out and dropped the chip but it didn't fall all the way over the edge. The ant started to walk away then he noticed it was still sitting on the edge so he turned around and walked over and gave it a final push to send it over. I thought that was pretty amazing. They wern't just dragging it out of their new nest and dumping it in the first place they could find. They were actualy disposing of it, out of sight, out of mind totaly and permanently. I developed a newfound respect for ants that day. They are very intelligent little creatures.
heck yeah man! :antstep:
Some pretty amazing stuff here...
Animals have an amazing capability to align with planetary fields...
This article explains/details part of a study about Dung beetles and their innate ability to align with the stars!

"An insect with a tiny brain and minimal computing power has become the first animal proven to use the Milky Way for orientation.
Scientists from South Africa and Sweden have published findings showing the link between dung beetles and the spray of stars which comprises our galaxy."
I am so glad more and more research is being dedicated to animals and their relationship with constellations...wish they would perform more studies relating to humans and their activities related to celestial objects positioning but we all know these wouldn't fly...

A few threads about magnetite in humans (the article above about the beetles mainly highlights their sense of various wavelenghts of light) but all of this is connected:

Want to learn more (and read a few research articles on this topic)?
Visit Google Scholar [
link to scholar.google.com
] (I am not sure if the scholarly articles will post here) and then type in "Animals AND magnetite" or "humans AND magnetite" then scroll through some of the studies being published nowadays, you will be surprised at the number of studies on these two subjects...if you want to dig in even further, add electromagnetic field in to some of the search queries
