Original Message Bisphenol A was discovered in 1891 by Russian chemist Aleksandr Dianin. In the early 1930s the British chemist Charles Edward Dodds recognized BPA as an artificial estrogen.[40] During that time BPA had two initial uses. The first use of BPA was to enhance the growth of cattle and poultry. The second use of BPA in the mid 1930s was as an estrogen replacement for women.

Exposure to mycoestrogens appears to affect the body size and breast development of girls, according to a study from NIEHS-supported researchers.
The researchers looked at zearalenone and zeranol mycoestrogens, which are commonly found in the food supply. Zearalenone is a fungal product that can be found in grains and plant foods consumed by livestock or humans, and zeranol is sometimes used to enhance meat production.
They studied 163 healthy girls (ages nine and ten).
The mycoestrogens were detected in the urine of 78 percent of the participants, and girls tended to be shorter and less likely to have reached the onset of breast development if urinary mycoestrogens were detected. Preliminary analysis associated intake of beef and popcorn with urinary mycoestrogens.

Zearalenone and its synthetic derivative zeranol (Ralgro) are estrogenic compounds to which cattle and swine in the U.S. meat industry are extensively exposed.
Contamination of food by zearalenone and its natural metabolites (breakdown products) has been associated with the development of precocious puberty—a known risk factor for breast cancer—in young girls (Massart, 2008).
The synthetic compound zeranol is a potent nonsteroidal growth promoter that mimics many of the effects of estradiol. Zeranol is used extensively in the United States and Canada to promote rapid and more efficient growth rates in animals used as sources of meat (Al-Dobaib, 2009).
A series of studies examined estrogenic activity in normal breast epithelial cells and breast cancer cells treated with zeranol. Abnormal cell growth was significant even at zeranol levels almost 30 times lower than the FDA-established limit in beef (Liu, 2002).

Raphanus sativus (radish) extract protects against Zearalenone induced reproductive toxicity, oxidative stress and mutagenic alterations
There is unequivocal evidence of reproductive toxicity of Zearalenone (ZEN) in male mice although the mechanism of action is unknown.
The results indicated that ZEN-induced toxicological effects in accordance to those reported in the literature: decreasing in the sperm number, testosterone level and antioxidant enzyme status. The RAPD-PCR analysis revealed an alteration in the DNA bands patterns between control and ZEN-treated mice.
The extract of raphanus sativus, rich in many antioxidant compounds, was safe and succeeded in counteracting the oxidative stress and protect against the toxicity resulting from ZEN.

Radish is rich in folic acid, Vitamin C and anthocyanins. These nutrients make it a very effective cancer-fighting food. It is said that radish is effective in fighting oral cancer, colon cancer and intestinal cancer as well as kidney and stomach cancers.
Radish helps to relieve congestion within the respiratory system, making it an excellent food for asthmatics and those who suffer from bronchial infections and sinus problems. It is beneficial for both the gallbladder and liver functions, as it acts as a cleanser. It contains sulphur based chemicals, which regulate the production and flow of bilirubin and bile, enzymes and acids and also help remove excess bilirubin from the blood. This makes it an excellent detoxifying agent for the body. It protects and soothes the gallbladder and liver, while protecting them from infections.
