His cv: John Stournaras is a Greek economist, university professor and now appointed Minister of Finance of Greece. He has served as special advisor to the Ministry of Economic Affairs (1986-1989), special advisor to the Bank of Greece (1989-1994), member of the Economic and Monetary Committee of the European Union (1994-2000), president and CEO of Mercantile Bank http://translate.google.gr/translate?sl=el&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=el&ie=UTF-8&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fel.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2F%25CE%2593%25CE%25B9%25CE%25AC%25CE%25BD%25CE%25BD%25CE%25B7%25CF%2582_%25CE%25A3%25CF%2584%25CE%25BF%25CF%2585%25CF%2581%25CE%25BD%25CE%25AC%25CF%2581%25CE%25B1%25CF%2582 He had a massive role in Greece joining the euro currency.
hmmmmm he did not seem like a happy bunny
Days after David Cameron promised a referendum on Britain's membership of the European Union, Yannis Stournaras warned a potential departure from the bloc would be an error.
"It would be a grave mistake for Britain to leave the EU", Greece's finance minister told the BBC on Tuesday.
"Britain belongs to Europe politically, financially and from a cultural point of view."
The minister added he would not accept Britain renegotiating the terms of its EU membership.
"No", he said. "That would open a Pandora's Box. Everybody would like to do the same. So that would spell the end of the European Union."
