Keep busy. Keep working, there's always stuff to do. Being busy makes the bad feelings fade.
the stuff i used to do to keep my busy doesn't do the same for me anymore.. i want to express myself artistically but now my values have changed and I'm at a crossroads with how to proceed forward
I feel moved to say something that will help but don't know what to say :) Some of what you are going through sounds like what I went through. Seeing through so many of the world's illusions, realizing my trust in agencies, governments and authorities has been betrayed...well, the first responses were depression and anger, in whichever order. One can no longer hold the same belief systems; and yet there isn't any firm belief system (or value sytem) to replace it with. I don't agree with always "keeping busy", only if that's a way to keep ignoring what's going on in your life. I think few of us were ever given time or inclination to ponder who and what we are, why we live our lives as we do. So I've spent more time doing that. In doing it, I've changed many of my values. And in changing the values, I have come up with small goals for myself, which may or may not result in changes in our system. I have definitely changed many aspects of my lifestyle, way of viewing our world, and how I think. Attacking consumerism is one of my goals. No longer living up to others' more inane expectations is another. I'm not going to go into details here, for everyone's path is different and everyone's solutions will be different. Just wanted to say I feel for you, you are on a new and unfomfortable journey, and I wish you the best of luck in finding your own peace among the illusions. It's there! But it does seem the anger and restlessness is a necessary first step in all this.
im printing out the bold part and putting it above my bed! thanks! :hf:
i know buddha said we will only punish ourselves by our own anger....
but man, i cant help it right now.
I drive around and see all these fast food restaurants, the gross excess of consumerism and exploitation of animals.... i see materialism running rampage.. i am surrounded by sex, violence, and greed....
don't get me wrong i fall down every day...
but i am pissed.
and I'm running out of patience
