Original Message So I've been doing the baking soda toothpaste-substitute thing for about a year now, twice a day (1tsp/~200ml), and have been very pleased with it throughout the course and am definitely not ever going back to anything with fluoride. Though lately I've been wondering, would once a day (before bed) be enough? "Common knowledge" says that tooth enamel can't heal itself or 'absorb' minerals, though many people have come to doubt this and with due reason. I rarely drink sweetened/acidified beverages during a routine day and instead sip on water enough to rinse away accumulated acids and larger food bits, so I figured maybe brushing the second time is just abrading them for no real benefit. Would simply rinsing with the soda solution in the morning and brushing at night be enough? Would like to hear some thoughts on this, especially from other long-term converts...
