Why would nature give you a fuckin' break? Why do you think we chemical laboratories and laser spectrographs? You can't tell what something is made off by just looking at it.
So, if you can’t say precisely what it’s made of how can you assure that it won’t act like a magnet?
Because it hasn't so far. Magnetic fields in space are pretty damned weak anyway. [quote:DracoLX 1137071:MV8yMTI5MjI5XzM1OTMzMDYwXzUyNEQwQkYy] [quote:HD:MV8yMTI5MjI5XzM1OTMyNzkyXzg2MjgwN0Yx] [quote:DracoLX 1137071:MV8yMTI5MjI5XzM1OTMyMjI3XzEzN0RFODVF] NO ONE can be 100% sure if it will miss or hit earth.
NO ONE can be 100% sure unicorns won't steal their lunch money.
Neither you can be 100% sure it won’t land right up yours….
I'm not 100% sure you're not a spambot, rather than human. But that would require the existence of software that can mimic "GLPer" with great fidelity. So it is not a "possibility" worth entertaining. This is the sort of thing people use to say "barring an act of God" about. There's nothing known that could cause this thing to alter its orbit to the degree necessary to hit us. Maybe a micro-blackhole zips by, maybe the Mighty Thor is in a bad mood, maybe Celestia feels trollish today. Why should we worry about stuff like that. [quote:DracoLX 1137071:MV8yMTI5MjI5XzM1OTMzMDYwXzUyNEQwQkYy] [quote:HD:MV8yMTI5MjI5XzM1OTMyNzkyXzg2MjgwN0Yx] [quote:Portuguese Coward 1137071:MV8yMTI5MjI5XzM1OTMyMjYxXzlFNzI4ODZG] you know that all the so called 100% proof error programs at JPL are man made? You know that even the brightest mind can do a "simple" mistake?
These methods have been tested tens of thousands of times. :book:
Yet it is known that humans are prone to miscalculations.
Than do your own calculations. The data used is public. The science used is public. The mathematics used is public. [quote:DracoLX 1137071:MV8yMTI5MjI5XzM1OTMzMDYwXzUyNEQwQkYy] Now in a more constructive way, Halcyon, you´d be more usefull in your answers if you could be polite enough to enlighten some of us that don’t have so much knowledge as you.
Than ask specific questions. How am I supposed to know what it is you don't know. And apparently "you're wrong" isn't something you want to hear. [quote:DracoLX 1137071:MV8yMTI5MjI5XzM1OTMzMDYwXzUyNEQwQkYy] By the way... my nickname is DracoLX but i'm too lazy to login.
I'm Halcyon Dayz and I log in automatically. :book: [quote:UK Coward 33314783:MV8yMTI5MjI5XzM1OTMzMTgxX0JBMEI3Q0RE] No one can say its going hit and no one can say its going miss untill 48 hours before miss or hit.
Where did you find this nugget of nonsense? [quote:UK Coward 33314783:MV8yMTI5MjI5XzM1OTMzMTgxX0JBMEI3Q0RE] even money if you want to put your house on it for a miss with ten days to go. come and Bet I WANT YOUR DEEDS
Since I rent can we make it €500? I wouldn't want to bankrupt you. (Although that would teach you a lesson.) :book:
So Halcyon, first things first. Now i am identified with my nickname here on GLP, i'm not a bot and i want to be wrong when i say that this comet can be pulled by earth's magnetic field. You say that magnetic fields in space are pretty damned weak and by that fact earth magnetic field didn't act like a magnet yet. TRUE!!!!! Yet this rock isn't close enough to suffer from magnetic pull. Now... it will pass closer than some orbiting satellites, right? If these satellites stay in orbit farther away why can't this comet be pulled in when we can't say what is made of? I'm not a science guy so i don't know how to do that kind of math that you're suggesting me to do. If i knew that i would be here backgrounding you with more specific data or backgrounding the guys that are saying it will hit. If you read carefully what i wrote you will notice that i didn't said that this comet will hit us. But... there is a slightly chance that it could hit. Damn... it could even enter and leave our atmosphere due to it's mass and velocity! I take nothing for granted, that's for sure. My point is simple... i don't like fear mongers neither shills. Let's all look at this baby with a grain of salt shall we? :peace:
The Science is against the asteroid "2012 DA14" hitting Earth.
It will pass by on Feb. 15th.
"An asteroid will give Earth a historically close shave next week, but there's no chance that the space rock will slam into our planet on this pass, experts say."
