People saying that these little asteroids are going to impact Earth have presented *no* evidence to back it up. Besides, I don't believe NASA would cover something like this up. And even if they did, how would they silence all the independent astronomers in the world? If there was a chance of impact from any of these, the independents would make it known. Without a doubt.
When the time comes, and the word comes out for them to maneuver their satelites from point a to b, I guess we'll experience first hand if they were successful or not.
There are pretty much no satellites anywhere near DA14's projected path.
And with DA14s projected path changing daily.... .17 .09, you know this how? Do you know it's mass? It's composition? Do you know how much it's mass will be affected by the gravitational lure of the earth? How do you know? Link? I would really love to see some proof of what you say, honestly. It would put my mind at ease.
DA14 is 45-75 meters across. Relatively small, but if it were to hit Earth, the impact would be equal to that of about 40 Hiroshima bombs. However, that destructive energy would be released high up in the atmosphere, not on the surface. As for all these saying it may hit, they haven't researched its projected path or they're just going to call the projected path a conspiracy. The margin of error in the projected path is miniscule. February 15 will be safe. The most interesting thing that will happen that day will be the countless hangovers endured by those who spent the previous day without a Valentine.
Should make for a helluva fireworks show. The actual number of Hiroshima bombs this thing will generate is more like 90, and seeing that the Hiroshima bomb took out 150,000 people, we're only looking at 13,500,000 dead. That's about 6% of the US population, which is about 2% lower than the current unemployment rate. This ain't exactly doom, yo..
I guess the sucky part is that 13.5 million people will be killed on Valentine's Day (next Thursday), so we could have more than a few broken hearts. Maybe we should sort of skip buying anything for our honeys this Valentine's Day and just take 'em out to a bomb shelter for BBQ chicken..
I you go to the RSOE EDIS SITE and scroll down to Asteroids there are 3 others inbound the same day as DA14. Way bigger than DA14.
So 4 coming our way that day. Look at the distances also.
Yes RSOE EDIS has it dated for the 14th. Not 15th.
