Original Message A well know quake precusor is when there is a sudden drop in atmospheric pressure - seen it many, many times; in fact, happened with a quake in NJ when Sandy hit.

The bombing low-pressure from this weekend's massive forecaster blizzard in New England could set off a quake - stay tuned.

Lots of surface waves traveling across the global from the past week's quakes. Biggest was an 8.0 in Santa Cruz.

All was initiated by PC1 pulsations recorded on HAARP last week Wednesday.

Now seeing more magnetic disturbances on HAARP.

This summary noted the direct relation between the C8.7 solar flare beginning at 0004 UT on February 6 and the foreshock of M 6.3 in the Santa Cruz Islands at 0007 UT which led to the great M 8.0 earthquake an hour later. In yesterday's summary we also noted activity in Spain which coincided with this flare. This was not the only seismicity directly related to the solar flare however. A series of earthquakes in Mexico occurred at the same time, for instance as did an M 3.0 in Tarapaca, Chile at 0006 UT and an event in the Virgin Islands of M 2.7 at 0011 UT. The earthquakes in Mexico are notable for their broad areal extent. Three light earthquake occurred with M 3.7 and 3.5 in the Chiapas area (103 degrees from Santa Cruz) and an M 3.9 in the Gulf of California occurred within 30 seconds of the M 6.3 in the Santa Cruz Islands foreshock. Note in the table below in the two minutes from 0006-0007 UT there were earthquakes recorded at five separate epicenters. This is a classic example of solar flare triggering of seismicity. The areas listed are probably at a high stress level and could see stronger earthquakes in the coming days as they are at a hair trigger.
