"No one can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth." - Matthew 5-7, Sermon on the Mount
How can so-called Christians reconcile that biblical passage with the obscene wealth of the Catholic Church, or the ostentation of the Crystal Cathedral and the thousands of mega-churches across the United States? How can you reconcile that passage with the personal wealth of Christian fundamentalists such as Pat Robertson ($140 million, at least), Joel Osteen ($40 million), Rick Warren ($25 million), Joyce Meyer (annual salary $900,000), Creflo Dollar ($27 million) and Benny Hinn ($42 million).
And please don't use that lame and tired excuse: "I'm not like that. Those people aren't real Christians." All Christians in this country push the same political and social agendas, you all claim moral superiority and higher spiritual ground, you all try to ram your "faith" down other people's throats and you all declare yourselves to be keepers of the real Truth. From top to bottom, you are all cut from the same cloth, all members of the same club.
How can you justify such blatant hypocrisy? How can you so willingly reject the teachings of your Christ and still call yourselves Christians?
