Original Message All I see here is people piling onto the LAPD. Civil rights this, police brutality that, shooting innocent bystanders blah blah blah.

If you've never been a cop you wouldn't understand. You have to face threats from every possible angle. It's like being a soldier in a foreign battlefield where the enemy dress like everyone else. Every single civilian you meet is a potential insurgent, and if you want to survive you have to assume that they are.

Look, you have to appreciate the stress they're under, more so right now than ever. A brother cop has been brutally slain... by a brother cop... It's a very confusing situation. They'll get him, rest assured, and put him down like the dog that he is, but until you just have to accept that there is going to be some collateral damage. A lot of collateral damage. Yes, "innocent" people will die, but that's what happens in a war when the enemy population harbors the guerrillas in its midst.

But the real victims in all of this? The cops who will have to kill one of their own. And they'll have to live with that for the rest of their lives. So put yourselves in their shoes for just a moment, and think about that.
