When I was single and taxed at the highest rate, I paid about 42% of my paycheck to taxes and at the end of the year, I would maybe get $200-$300 back after filing my taxes.
When I made a lot of money, I paid even more. But it didn't bother me because I made so much. But if you have a low income and pay 37% taxes, and the government helps you out because the taxes are so high, it gets rather bizarre.
They don't help us here and my tax rate was not low income at all, pretty much middle income. What they are about to do though is raise taxes even more on middle income. We really should have a flat tax rate here, but we don't. Even if someone makes $1 million a year, they still pay a very, very large tax rate. Also say you save a good bit of money, money you already paid taxes on. Then you die and you leave that money to your children. Your children could have to pay an inheritance or estate tax of 40% on that money that was already taxed. Now you can leave it to a surviving spouse and the spouse not be taxed but if that spouse leaves it to the children, they can be taxed. The government is going to get their taxes and they aren't giving you anything back here. Deductions to lower your tax rate can sometimes be hard to come by. Basically you have to end up giving a lot of your money away to get many tax breaks.
Is he trying to run us out of business!!! If you raise one side the other would even out with it!!! The money comes from the people that buy the product and the price just rose by $1 cause of the minimum wage raise!! He does not get it!!
