These stones are reputed to have extremely powerful magical properties The superstition is that a rock found with a hole in it brings the bearer good luck The Legend Of The Holey Stone http://blog.ctnews.com/lenhard/2012/09/30/the-legend-of-the-holey-stone/
Holey stones are composed of sandstone and have naturally occurring holes caused by weather, water, or tiny shelled sea creatures. They were sacred stones of protection (especially for children and animals) in ancient times and are still highly coveted. Holey Stones are also known as Odin Stones, after a mythological poem where Odin transmuted himself into a worm and slipped through ahole in a rock to steal "the mead of poetry". http://www.songofstones.com/item_678/Holey-Stones-aka-Odin-Stones.htm What are holey stones and what do they do? Also called Odin Stones and Hag stones, holey stones are for healing, protection and more. Okay, so... What made the hole? http://www.weepeeple.com/drawer/holeystonespage.htm
