I myself am a sailor and I feel the pain of the relatives of those men. This is what I have put in an email to Mr. Butler.... Dear Mr. Butler, With the greatest of respect, I am moved to write to you because of the decision the Coast Guard has taken with regards to stopping the search for the five missing Nova Scotia fishermen. As a sailor myself I ask you to please reconsider the decision the Canadian Coast Guard has taken in this matter. Since when do we Canadians give up on our own? Since when do we look at the value of dollars rather than human life? We sent our men and women over seas during the second world war to help and protect people thousands of miles away. We knew nothing about them or their lives but we sacrificed our own for their benefit and safety. Why is it that we can turn a blind eye to our very own who are in danger of losing their lives? Please consider carefully my words. I have always been a very proud Canadian with the knowledge that we Canadians are a strong, hardy, patriotic people and that we care deeply for our country and our fellow Canadians. If we cannot show support for our own at this time, then we are not the resilient caring people the world sees us as and at present I have to hang my head in shame..... I ask that you please continue to search for our men who are lost at sea fighting for their lives. Thank you for your consideration. Regards xxxxx My prayers will go out the the Creator for assistance as well..... Canuck
Thank you so much, Sir. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes - and i am a 33year old "tough" guy.... this means a lot to me and all the people here in the affected communities.
I am honoured to assist these young men in any way I can (and that would be Ms.) My husband wanted to take me to see the Tall Ships this year had he not passed in September of last year. You, my brothers and sisters on the east coast are in my thoughts and prayers. Blessings... Canuck
My sympathies for the loss of your husband. The Tall Ships would have impressed you with all the nice ships to see. I hope that you will still get the chance to enjoy this great event sometimes.
This is Urgent! Right now there are five young and brave Canadian Fishermen out on the Atlantic right off the coast off Nova Scotia. Their boat capsized saturday night and a US Coast Guard plane was even able to pic up the life raft after with an thermical imaging camera, they were not able to get to them because of rough seas and almost 0 visibility. They stopped the search tuesday evening after not even 40hrs - even the weather calmed down and with food and water for minimum 3 days on board the life raft. Those five young men are the heart of the communities they come from, and most of them have children and wifes. We heard about people before who survived longer than 40hrs in worser conditions, and those young men are strong and have a will to survive.
So we need you to show your support and urge the Coast Guards to go on with the search until they have at least found the capsized vessel and or the life-raft. Imagine it would be your sons out there!
PLEASE CALL THE CANADIAN COAST GUARD AND DEMAND TO EXTEND THE SEARCH FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER 36hrs!!!
