A friend of mine is a financial advisor. We were talking a few days ago while playing some pick-up hockey. He said the Q.E. "program" in the U.S. is coming to an end, and it could cause a big down in the U.S., which would in turn, cause a world wide down turn.
The way he explained it was something like this:
If you take large wet logs and try to start a fire with no paper, twigs, etc... just using a book of matches, the only fire you'll ever have is from the matches themselves. Once they are gone, so is your fire. He said Q.E. is the match book.
I (being a closet DOOM guy outside of GLP) thought this was quite interesting, but never thought much more about it until this morning when I heard about the futures markets.
