[quote:Esoteric Morgan:MV8yMTQ4MjAwXzM2MzI5NDg0XzhGMjlCQUFF] [quote:RoxykinsIII:MV8yMTQ4MjAwXzM2Mjk0NzY5XzIzQkI2RkFE] The Pope and top Vatican cardinals have been accused of possible crimes against humanity for sheltering guilty Catholic priests, in formal complaints to the International Criminal Court....
Would I like to see this? Yes. And I am certain I'd have lots of company in this. After seeing the way my husband suffered throughout his life for the sins of not only THAT particular priest, but, the parish church which basically ran their own private kiddie bordello, I can ONLY PRAY that some sort of REAL justice is finally served. The stories I heard were beyond reason. In the rectory of that parish church, he --along with WHO KNOWS how many other once innocent children-- was introduced to booze, porn, tobacco, and things which cannot be spoken of. He grew to be a drunk, heavy smoker, and promiscuous person, often trying to break those cycles, yet, just as often failing miserably. He mocked all that he once held dear, even his family who looked down on him. He became a cynic...yet, spent the rest of his life looking for truth, for comfort, for meaning. His mother, a new widow, was absofuckinglutely THRILLED and RELIEVED that her 10 year-old, having lost his father, was taken under the 'wings' of her 'loving' parish priest. As the years went by, this deeply devout first generation Italian-American widow was just as tortured as her son. Only thing is, he could never tell his family. To this day, they have carried a burden that was both unfair to HIM, and to themselves. All because their unquestioning faith blinded them to the real truth. Imagine this, that he was 'mourned' while alive, as he was considered a lost soul that they could only pray for, say countless novenas for, and, have masses dedicated to for his conversion. It is an irony that is beyond tragic. ----- So, yes, I too need closure. Nothing can give all of these victims back what they lost, be they the children who were abused, their families, friends, or, any of the people who could never quite learn how to deal with the downward spiral of these broken lives. p.s.: This parish is in Brooklyn, NY, St. Michael's. I thought not to add this, but, why should I continue the charade? This particular priest was named Father 'Rod', a shortened version of his actual name, which my husband thought quite ironic and apropos.
Pope Benedict XVI resigned after an internal investigation informed him about a web of blackmail, corruption and gay sex in the Vatican, Italian media reports say.
On December 17, 2012, they handed the pontiff two red-leather bound volumes, almost 300 pages long, containing "an exact map of the mischief and the bad fish" inside the Holy See, La Repubblica said.
