http://www.geocities.com/lauferworld.geo/NYTimesHC.htm The doom mongers 100 years ago predicted life on earth would be snuffed out by cyanide. It wasn't. They were wrong then, they are wrong now.
And the government "scientists" also told us that nothing was going to happen on February 15th. Cosmic Fail!
No, that is not what they told you. They told you that 2012 DA14 would not hit earth on the 15th. It didn't. You are trying to generalize a specific statement. Pathetic.
Again, you speak in half-truths. Yes, they told us "DA14" (the flying potato, a government satellite disguised as "DA14", Russell's ceramic teapot, or whatever the hell it was to keep you distracted) would not hit. But it just so happened that a 10,000 ton space rock did hit on the same day that they were telling us that a 40,000 ton space rock would not hit. They claim they could not "see" the 10,000 ton space rock. But they have no problem looking at the surface of the sun. LOL!
You can't find asteroids during the day. Yes, even I can see the surface of the sun just fine with my telescope, but likewise I cannot detect asteroids during the day. The sun is many orders of magnitude brighter than any asteroid, the latter of which cannot be seen through the bright daytime sky glow caused by the sun.
NASA does not look at the Sun with "telescopes" you silly man.
Are you stupid???
Are you literate? Do you know the meaning of quotation marks?
Hey Now ! Stop pickin on Astro, you got him all discombobulated now.
Putting the word in quotes does not change the meaning, what luna said was completely wrong.
Actually, it does change the meaning. Sort of like putting "Dr." Astro in quotes changes the meaning considerably.
In the context of what you said, it did not change the meaning except to suggest that you thought it was incredibly stupid that I should say NASA uses telescopes to look at the sun. In fact it was incredibly stupid for you to suggest that they do not, and once you realized this you tried to change the meaning to backyard telescopes. Yes, putting my official title in quotes does insulting imply that you think I do not have the title, but I don't give a damn what you think. I do, which is the real beauty of the situation.
LOL! This is so fun! The "incredibly stupid" part of your "context" did not exist in my mind until you questioned the definition of quotation marks. And let me see if I have this correct: I am supposed to believe your "data" and "photographs" regarding DA14 and I am to trust the "authorities" like you
And the hundreds of other amateur astronomers who saw it go safely on by, yes, you are. [quote:luna] that told us "nothing" would hit on February 15
Quote me where I said that or :stfu: I said 2012 DA14 would not hit us, specifically. It didn't. That is completely different from saying that "nothing" would hit us that day. Those two statements have nothing to do with one another. So either quote me where I said that nothing would hit us, or shut the fuck up.
"Nothing". Notice the quotation marks. You must be quotation mark-challenged. Just a tip, "Dr." Astro: when you see the quotation marks, it means you are required to think before you speak.
Quotation marks are not an excuse to go back and insert whatever you like later on. In the context of what you said, it appears that myself and others could be quoted as saying nothing would hit us that day. Now quote me or retract the statement.
"Telescopes". The meaning that you inserted was your meaning and was totally wrong. My meaning was entirely correct in that NASA in fact does not use backyard telescopes to look at the Sun. They use telescopes attached to satellites, with extremely expensive components, and advanced filters that justify me putting "telescopes" in quotes. The conclusion is that if NASA has the ability to look at the surface of the Sun and build telescopes that can look into the far reaches of the Universe, then they can certainly locate 10,000 ton space rocks with the potential to kill millions of people, all their Media propaganda to the contrary. They are either negligent or lazy. Probably a combination of both, considering that they spend all their time and waste so much money looking for aliens rather than working to protect humans. So, I'll listen to the people that can predict "cosmic coincidences" any day over the "authorities". David Dunham predicted the cosmic coincidence on February 15, but the "authorities" labeled him an "amateur". Hmmm...
I think the point being is that NASA built the telescope to look at the Sun, which is a very large object. I don't believe that the telescopes that were built to view the Sun have the capability to pick out a few meters wide asteroid..whizzing by our planet at 13-30 miles per second accurately. Those scopes just were not designed for that..they do have some they are working on now to help locate the smaller asteroids, but they are not up there yet.
Oh, but they have these expensive and fancy filters, and they're on SATELLITES! So they MUST be able to do it, just look at those amazing gorgeous images of the sun that they take! They're not "backyard telescopes" so they MUST be able to do it! /sarc
LOL! yep hehe.
Few people have realized that Comet Panstarrs is about to become visible to the naked eye in the northern hemisphere,
But so is Comet Lemmon, the ultra-toxic poison Cyanide comet.
Then Comet Ison will be whipping around the Sun and will appear to be coming out of the top of the Sun @ Christmas day this year, it will be followed by Comet Enke about 7 days later, anything could happen, and it probably will.
