[quote:Anonymous Coward 31625978:MV8yMTU2NDA0XzM2NDUxNjgwXzYwNkU4NkMy] I remember when zero tolerance was just some crazy school policy that only affected schoolkids. Then I started hearing the term being used more and more, until it finally bled over into the world outside of the schools. Now its zero tolerance for this and zero tolerance for that, with politicians and law enforcement adopting a policy that had once only been limited to the schools. I think it's safe to say that the schools are the canary in the coal mine. The policies that are being enforced on the schoolkids today are what they intend to enforce on all Americans in the near future. [/quote]
A seven-year-old boy was suspended from school on Thursday after biting his breakfast pastry into a shape that his teacher thought looked like a gun.
Josh Welch, a second-grader at Park Elementary School in Baltimore, said he was trying to nibble his strawberry snack into a mountain.
But when his teacher saw what he had done, the boy says she got 'pretty mad' and he knew he was 'in big trouble.' Josh was suspended for two days.
