Scroll down to "Devil in the Details - Part 7 and you will see how they doctored a photo of Lovecraft by "painting" on some ridiculous hair and by altering the eyes to look maniacal. They left Lovecraft's nose, mouth, jaw, ears and basic head shape intact.

It is an inside joke and they are even more amused when they are discovered but remain untouchable.
