ICELAND is the model. and whats 13 bill bailout? pocket change, esp to the mafia who blows up that amount every 48 hrs bombing folks in Syria, Iraq & Afghanistan
I think you havent learned history in school - Answer yourslef a simple question would you be rather (if you had the choice) be under Russian authority or the "germano'european zone " authority. I thought so.Why dont you move to russia my friend and leave US..... I agree Icleand is a fantastic model nowadays and proves that yes we can make it without eurozone... However Cypriots are and always were (sorry for that my cypriot friends) narrow minded....were always building their funds on money coming from other countries. In th 80-90 mostly Arab countries invested in Cyprus after that other mixes and in 93 and upwards Russians. This island lives mostly from tourism (doesnt have its own nature sources apart from fruits and what else which is not enough for the country to function)and unfortunately they dont have anything special to offer more than their weather. Now not for a reason cyprus is "tax haven", that is why many offshoare companies are opened in Cyprus.Russian companies, german companies etc..... So if you wanne know in other words all "the unknown source money" we dont want to tax is kept in Cyprus banks...right. Why doesnt the goverment leave the poor Cypriots out of the business and just tax all the "offshoare companies bank accounts" to pay????? Cyprus signed a pact with the devil and now we will only watch it burn in hell. So sorry Cyprus if you think youre better of with the Russians then good luck:hf:
You wrote.... "Why doesnt the goverment leave the poor Cypriots out of the business and just tax all the "offshoare companies bank accounts" to pay?????" ANSWER.... ....because Putin and all his corrupt KGB buddies who got rich via corrupt means when the Iron Curtain fell, are not going to tolerate having their blood money taken by Germans of all people.....or the EU. They are THE RUSSIAN MOB. You think mafia is going to just sit and watch their money disappear into German banks?
so now Cypriot politicians think it would be a better idea to go run into the arms of these Russians. well that would be a smart move...
"Germany's finance minister has warned Cyprus that its crisis-stricken banks may never be able to reopen if it rejects the terms of a bailout."
"There may have been jubilation among many Cypriots at Tuesday night's parliamentary defeat of the hated banking tax, but now the country faces a tough reality."
