[quote:Anonymous Coward 10364052:MV8yMTc2MTY3XzM2ODg3MzgyXzU4RERCQ0VF] [quote:sashita:MV8yMTc2MTY3XzM2ODgyMTU5XzRFRkIzRjc3] I'm a Catholic and I can say this much: NO ONE that I know thinks Benny resigned for the reasons given. It could have be partially due to a financial scandal, but that occurred with John Paul I and he didn't resign ( which is almost heretical), but was, I believe killed. So, a financial scandal doesn't really explain to me why a Pope would resign. Certainly not because of his health. That's just not done and goes against the whole idea of being pope. A Church that doesn't believe a sacramental vow such as marriage can be broken does not believe a duly elected Pope can resign over ill health. Yes, there's the terrible pedophilia scandal, but that's been out in the open forever and Benny didn't really face it and turned his eyes blindly from it. He was trying to make the Church more traditional and pre-Vatican I, but I don't think that's why he resigned. The man looks like someone who has had the s*** scared of them and he looks beyond terrified. I'm still trying to figure this whole situation out. He obviously has known the Third Fatima Prophecy for a long time now and that didn't make him resign....unless, he saw signs it was really happening and he freaked. He was pushed out and he was freaked out. No one wanted power more than Pope Benedict. Sorry this is so scattered but I'm trying to come to some conclusion that makes sense and I have a very open mind on the subject.
Of the Popes I know, John Paul II definitely wanted power more than Benedict XVI. But you are correct, there must be another reason for his resignation. He wrote the Fatima book with Bertone and at this point we know that he lied in order to save the RCC. Maybe he's tired of the 'show' or was forced to resign. Thn ew Pope is a little too "holy" and Jesus imitating for my taste.
"A stunning Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) report prepared for President Putin, which is circulating in the Kremlin today, states that Pope Benedict XVI was forced to resign this past week over Catholic Church fears that this 85-year-old leader of over 1 billion Christians was “mentally and physically unprepared” to deal with the coming revelation about the truth of alien beings."
Wait, what?!
