I went down to look at the lake after the thaw and found the entire beach full of dead and the water dead and dieing fish. They're bleeding through their scales. When they wash up on shore you can see the water wash the blood away then more comes out. Some are swimming upside down and there are alot of small live ones close enough to grab with your hand (I wasn't putting mine in there). I only saw a couple that looked like they were partially eaten by scavengers.
