I am a substitute teacher. I chose to sub because I'm married with a baby. I primarily stat at home with our daughter, and only work on the 2 days a week he's off (when he's off on a weekday and school is in). My husband's money pays the "hard bills", and my money is for the extra things...like date nights, or vacations. I also put a percent into savings.
Since subs are temporary, they don't have full-time benefits. I've never cared. Like I said, I do it because it offers flexibility with my daughter and my family in general. If the baby's sick, or if my husband's off and simply says " Let's make this a family day", I have control of that. Well, I did have control of that...but not anymore.
Because of Obamacare, they are demanding that the schools provide us with benefits (that most of us don't even want)!. The schools don't have the money to do that, so they have hired a temp service to come in that can provide benefits.
Under this temp service we will be under a magnifying glass. If we don't accept enough jobs to sub, they will fire us. We have to document our own schedule and payroll as well. I thought accountants were supposed to do that? I will have to send them a record of everything that
happens during the day (fights, etc). If they don't like how I handle things, they will fire me. They have very strict policies of disciplining the kids. We watched a video on it, but the kids in the video were all well-behaved. They have no idea what we go through ( thugs with pants down to their ankles , rap music blaring, cell phones out, cussing us, being defiant, etc). They are not teachers, and do not understand this, but want to implement strict policies on we handle these issues. `So when I'm sitting there doing my own payroll, and being disciplined about disciplening a child, I can thank Obama.
