An extremely advanced Benevolent specie would have it as The Law , The First Law , to change for the better an intelligent specie encoutered for the very good reason of Self Protection to ensure that no violent intelligent species emerges in the Universe or remains un-changed for long .
Changing the genome of a specie can be done today using gene therapy .
Some methodes involve a retro-virus as a carrier of the new gene to be added to the genome or to the compund that would Silence another gene(s) .
Spreading in the athmosphere those retro-viruses to modify the genome of a specie like ours , is not a chalange even to us with the present technology , is just a matter of mass producing it and spreading it in the Jet Stream .
Hence this act of improving/pacifing a specie by another Benevolent one , could and can be done at any time in the history of the recipient specie .
But , obviously , was not done on us , the human specie .
This proves that we were not visited by a Benevolent alien specie . Sorry !
But that doesn`t mean we can not do it to ourselves , we already have the technological means And had identifyed the genes :
