April 15, 1912 "The British passenger liner RMS Titanic sinks after hitting an iceberg in the North Atlantic, causing the deaths of about 1,503 people."
◦April 15, 1943 "An Allied bomber attack misses the Minerva automobile factory and hits the Belgian town of Mortsel instead, killing 936 civilians." April 15, 1961 "Launching of first nuclear-powered frigate, USS Bainbridge, at Quincy, MA"
April 15, 1969 North Korean aircraft shoots down Navy EC-121 reconnaissance aircraft over the Sea of Japan
April 15, 1986 "Operation Eldorado Canyon, Navy aircraft from USS America (CV-66) and USS Coral Sea (CV-43) attack Libya in conjunction with USAF aircraft after Libya linked to terrorist bombing of West"
April 15, 1989 "Hillsborough disaster: A human crush occurs at Hillsborough Stadium, a football stadium in Sheffield, resulting in 96 deaths
April 15, 1997 Fire sweeps through a campsite of Muslims making the Hajj pilgrimage; the official death toll is 343
