Many people go under the impression that Genghis Khan was Muslim. He was not.
'KHAN" is a Mongolian word denoting KING. It was later adopted by his succesors who settled in Samarkhand, and converted to islam. It was these descendents of the Genghis Khan who became the Sultans in Samarkhand who were known as the MUGHALS, and who invaded India later on. (Genghis Khan had problems with his horses owing to the hot weather in India, which is why he did not proceed further than Pakistan today. A lack of awareness of the true history makes people associate the word "KHAN" with muslims.
