Honest question, trying to understand.
They aren't the same. The real "Israelites" the lost ten tribes who were from the original "Kingdom of Israel" who were deported never to return. When Jesus came in the flesh he said he came to save those who were lost - the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then Jesus said to the woman, "I was sent only to help God's lost sheep--the people of Israel." Matthew 15:24 The Jews weren't lost - they were in the land when Jesus walked it......the lost sheep of the House of Israel were scattered abroad all through Europe at that time - where were the apsostles sent to??? “These twelve Jesus sent forth, and COMMANDED them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: but go rather to the LOST sheep of the house of Israel.” Jesus knew where the lost sheep were...... Jesus “came to his own” - the House of Judah, the Jews - “and his own received him not” - (John 1:11). Jesus was of the lineage of David, of the House of Judah. When His own people - the Jews - rejected Him, He did not turn to the Gentiles. It was Paul who did. Instead, Jesus said to the Gentile woman: “I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the House of Israel” - (Matthew 15:24). The Jews in Israel today are not Israelites.
another view: the Israelites were last exiled en masse from the land of Israel after the destruction of the second temple in 70 CE. some remained, most migrated to europe and north africa, yet kept their dream of returning alive for 2000 years through prayer, study, and observance. in the nineteenth century, an austrian jew had the idea of combating anti-semitism by petitioning the nations of the world to re-establish the jewish homeland in israel. most orthodox jews opposed this idea, seeing its origins in secular nationalism and not in the patient awaiting of the fulfillment of G-d's promises through divine providence alone. some changed their view after the jewish state was established, seeing it as the fulfillment of the biblical promise. there is no consensus today on this matter among the orthodox jewish community. according to some views, the leadership of the jewish world today are corrupted by the "mixed multitudes", infiltrators of the jewish people who rise to power and abuse the loyalties of the community. the messiah will bring the jewish people back into alignment with the spark they carry through prayer, study and observance, bring back the leadership of the house of david, and restore jewish sovereignty according to G-d's laws, with the approval and invitation of the nations of the world. :angel3:
You are wrong - the Israelites were taken into captivity in 722 BCE by the Asssyrians. There were no more Israelites in the land when the temple was destroyed in 70 AD. It was only the Jews who were exiled this time around and also scattered among the nations. This verse should make you think if you are capable of it as so many Christians today are blinded by Satan: James 1 vs 1: 1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings. The above was written by James to the JEWS....and notice how James addressed those who were supposedly lost? The apostles knew where the lost sheep of Israel were at the time as did the Jews. Do not equate the Jews of today with those from the Kingdom of Israel as they are not the same people.
