So you want to be friends with space aliens? You need to ask yourself why. The typical reason is because it would be great for us to have their advanced technology.
But isn't this the same as wanting to be friends with billionaires, because it would be great to somehow get some of their money?
What kind of friendship is that?
To those who say "no, I just want to be friends with aliens because it would be awesome!" Then, here's some aliens you can try to be friends with:
Find a clique of fraternity guys or sorority girls/cheerleaders that you're not a part of, and try to be friends with them.
Go to Compton, California, and try to be friends with the street gangs there.
Neither group would likely be very easy to become friends with. The average person would probably fail miserably, because those people are too "alien" to them. Space aliens would be exponentially more "alien" than any of the above groups of fellow humans.
Furthermore, look at it from the space alien's point of view. For them to actually WANT to be friends with you, it would be similar to you going a special education classroom full of mentally challenged/special needs people just to be friends with them. "Hi Benny! This thing is called an iPhone 5. It cost me $650. I'll give it to you so you can play with it. Have fun!"
How likely would that scenario really be?
How often have you actively sought out mentally challenged people to be friends with in your lifetime? Or, like the average person, do you instead try to avoid any and all contact with those kind of people if you can possibly help it? With that in mind, is it really any wonder why space aliens don't make themselves openly known to us?
