A former student of mine works for one of our US Senators.
This person informed me today that a certain sub-committee on competitiveness
has commissioned a study on the feasibility of scanning cash every time it is exchanged.
A scan of your real ID will be required to lawfully purchase with cash.
The stated goal is to eliminate terrorist funding,
counterfeit currency, and illegal drug trafficking.
One suggestion tossed about in committee would 'tag' certain bills as known drug money
and they would be rejected at the point of purchase.
Either way, everything purchased with a particular bill will be cataloged if this legislation makes it to law.
