This Mammoth cannot be older. [/quote] The Bible state that a thousand years was like one year to God, and vise versa. So tracing the timelines stated in the Bible, and including the six thousand years it took for God to create the heavens and the earth, add in the two thousand years roughly since the death of Christ, and we get over ten thousand years, less than twenty thousand. I'm certain someone has added it all up before. I can't tell if yu're post is sarcastic or not, so plese forgive if so. In regard to cloning mammoths, Nat Geo had a serious article on doing just that in the March or April issue, I don't recall which. They explained the process. The article also goes onto tell how ancient tundra is being restored to how it was when mammoths roamed, using big critters whose hooves penetrate the surface returning tundra to a vegitative state which will support a herd of cloned mammoths. There is an artists rendition of cloned mammoths wandering the tundra, with an obviously elite family glassing them from a land rover or humvee. In the same Nat Geo issue is another article on the mammoth tusk trade. With elephant tusk ivory trade heavily regulated, mammoth tusk hunting is a booming business, it's unregulated. With areas once frozen, now thawed sev months of the year, an experienced mammoth tusk hunter can make a few hundred grand a year, China is where most of the tusks go to be carved into art which can sell upwards of a million bucks. FRESNO, Calif. -- Russian scientists discovered a frozen woolly mammoth in an icy tomb off the coast of Siberia. Approximately 10,000 years old, the creature was so well-preserved that some of its blood and muscle tissue was intact.
