In the last episode, number six explaines that the reason he defected was because he learned too much about the people he worked for. Because we are dangerous, we were sent here to be quarantined, and perhaps "rehabilitated".

So maybe there is happiness ahead for some, but it involves compromising your beliefs which got you sent here in the first place. It involves allowing the law of sacrifice to continue, when you once believed it to be wrong.

This is stuff it has taken me a long while to piece together, but I really do think it is behind everything we are going through right now.

Leaving the realm of science fiction, there is this idea of a sacrifice. The decisions made during the times of a moral and ethical dilemma require a sacrifice. Sometimes we have to sacrifice our own personal desires for the greater good of humanity. Example, a horrible neighbor who is so selfish, loud, noisy, rude, etc., lives only to satisfy their most immediate, carnal need. For those that sacrifice, they think of the greater good and don't murder the psycho, don't set the apartment complex on fire, and don't behave the same, etc. 
In order for humanity to progress, we can't tolerate senseless spying from the gov't or from crazy neighbors that stomp because they hear a microwave oven!
Their behavior is the most carnal, criminal behavior - ultimately they sacrifice human beings to feel good with themselves. This behavior is the same as serial murderers because they murder to feel good with themselves.
