Truth is a correct description of reality, i.e. what is or what occurred. Our only contact with reality is through our brains. This image of reality in our brains is supposedly created in response to input from our senses. This image is however not what is really out there. Even if it was, we couldn't tell. So our knowledge is incomplete and may even be completely wrong. This knowledge is what we base our truth on. So at best truth as we know it is a substitute for real truth. At worst it's a lie. Also...
All belief is false
Why is it so? It isn't really. A belief is neither false nor true. At least, we can't know if a belief is true or false. If we could it wouldn't be belief, it would be knowledge. Since we can't know, any claims about the veracity of belief are equally valid. Hence: All belief is false (or true).
