how do you know that ?
They are trolling you. This is an interesting story. I gave you 5* and a pin request. I will see if I can find Luisport. He knows a lot about weather stuff. He might have noticed a system or anomaly that could have caused this.
well, they are not.. my former account here was baned without reason and is unaccessible for some months now. so it is a good trolling ;) thank you for the 5* and the pin request. i noticed there were some threads about this end of june, but i do think as well it needs some more attention: if it is not worth reporting the day it happened, but 10days later in the US and about a month later here in Germany, why report at all?
Well good grief. I'm sorry your account was banned. Have you contacted GLP to see if there is a solution? I have sent a message to Luisport and I hope he will take a look at this. He's predicted some of the biggest storms and seen weather phenomenon before my local weather people even know wtf is going on. So perhaps he has something archived that would account for this. The other thing that bugs me on this is the possibility of a large methane gas release. As you know, Nature abhors a vacuum. If a 1000 km long section of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, which is highly seismic given that it is a tectonic plate boundary, were to suddenly outgas methane, water would have to rush in to fill the void. Just like a rubber band, water rebounds once it hits a "barrier" and the remaining water not needed to fill the space will rebound in the other direction. This time, toward the East Coast of the States. This is completely hypothetical. I have neither the scientific knowledge or understanding of such events on such a large scale. I've only seen a few experiments in college about how water behaves. Similar to the tsunami tank experiments about what could happen if that portion of the Canary Island volcano were to slide off into the ocean. The experiment my professor did showed us how gases vented from an underwater volcano could move large quantities of water. That experiment, however, showed the water moving in and omnidirectional fashion away from all sides of the explosion.
no, because i think i just asked too many questions glp owner does not like ;) but that´s okay, i am still able to contribute something here as AC .. look at the link i posted http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=44402&type=0&startyear=2013&startmonth=06&startday=12&endyear=2013&endmonth=06&endday=14&submit=Submit .. the "funny" thing is, i only found buoys near to the coast as #44402 in event mode on june 13th, not the ones a bit further out in the ocean. so if it was a methane bubble, the methane is close to the coast, not out in the ocean.. maybe really something to worry about if. and just if. Original Message
just today i read an article in our spiegel online magazine,
that there was a tsunami on June 13 on the US East Coast out of the blue,
scientists are buffled and still questioning where it came from!
did not find an english link ad hoc, so here´s the translator-link:
Tsunami from nowhere: Enigmatic 1000-kilometer wave hits U.S. east coast
An amazing surge on the east coast of the United States stunned scientists. On the afternoon of 13 June, they have flooded beaches from Massachusetts to North Carolina, reported the tsunami warning center. The analysis of data has only now revealed that 30 buoys were recorded in quick succession increased water level in very different marine regions - the wave front would therefore have been at least one thousand kilometers wide. Now scientists have puzzled over what caused it.
