[quote:leonine:MV8yMjk2OTg4XzM5MTM1OTE1XzY5RTVGNkU1] Kinda like the novel about "the spice". All they need now is a cute jingle by the spice girls. But hey, being full of pesticides would keep large alien insectoids at bay, right? [/quote]

Meeting early this month in Rome, the Codex Alimentarius Commission created a new Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs (CCSCH) and approved several hundred new provisions for food additives and maximum residue limits (MRLs) for pesticides, according to a meeting report ( [

First proposed by India last year, the spice committee encountered opposition from the United States and several other countries, which called for better definition of its scope. In the intervening year, the U.S. worked closely with India to achieve consensus on the committee's terms of reference and defer development of special project documents until the panel's first meeting. India will chair the CCSCH and include Arabic as a working language, along with English, French and Spanish.
