Some CIA or Air Force Guy that is specifically here to monitor threads and discredit them starts getting caught up in them?

He's thinking "oh no, all the evidence is here, what if it's true"? I better just "monitor " these threads further. Then as the weeks and months past, the job starts turning into actually questioning what he knows. Strange things happening.

Next thing you know he realizes his boss is a reptilian and he's been compromised, the watcher being watched.
