Accurately determining a comet's orbit can take several days, or even weeks of new observations, but for Comet ISON it came much more quickly. Pre-discovery observations from the Mount Lemmon Survey (observed Dec. 28, 2011) and Pan-STARRS (observed Jan. 28, 2012) were identified in the Minor Planet Center's database [1]
 Quoting:

And that...

However, Comet ISON was discovered at the great distance of 6 AU (just beyond Jupiter's orbit), and the pre-discovery observations go back to more than 8 AU from the Sun!

So wait, ISON was initially discovered out in front of the orbit of Saturn back on December 28th, 2011? Further, 6 AU is in FRONT of Jupiter's Orbit, so beyond as in passed it? I would assume so! Since the further data of 8 AU is STILL passed the orbit of Jupiter.

wutlol

So what is the Mount Lemmon Observatory?

Mount Lemmon Observatory (MLO), also known as the Mount Lemmon Infrared Observatory
 Quoting:

And that..

The site in the Coronado National Forest is used with special permission from the U.S. Forest Service by the University of Arizona's Steward Observatory, and contains a number of independently managed telescopes.[1]

So what is the Mount Lemmon Survey?

Mount Lemmon Survey is a part of the Catalina Sky Survey with observatory code G96.
 Quoting:

So then what is the Catalina Sky Survey?

Catalina Sky Survey is a project to discover comets and asteroids, and to search for Near-Earth objects. More specifically, to search for potentially hazardous asteroids (PHAs), that may pose a threat of impact.
 Quoting:

OK, back to the original source, reading further it brings up that...

In January 2014, the Earth will swing past a part of space that Comet ISON already traveled through, at a small distance of only 0.03 AU. This encounter brings up the possibility of a meteor shower on Earth. Meteor showers from Oort Cloud comets are rare events indeed. Stay tuned while astronomers consider this possibility.
 Quoting:

So let us debunk the 'ISON' will fall apart just like ELENIN did...

Comet ISON, being so bright, is more like Comet Ikeya-Seki in size, which did survive its encounter with the Sun. Their larger sizes insulate their interiors from the Sun's energy.
 Quoting:

But after saying all of that, the author then goes on to how ISON could break apart. scratching

So which is it?

Then he notes that...

While astronomers will do their best to predict what Comet ISON will become, we may be disappointed. The classic let-down in the business of comet predictions was Comet Kohoutek in 1973, but based on what we know about Comet ISON so far, the Kohoutek scenario seems unlikely.
 Quoting:

Seems to me that they STILL cannot make their minds up about ISON. Sounds to me like we can ALL agree that it was known about a year in advanced of being announced an they had discovered it's trajectory rather quickly.

OK, but then it dawned on me... When this was discovered, several months prior to it's pre-discovery we had the massive EQ off the coast of Japan.

So where was ISON on March 11th, 2011? Only a few months away from passing Saturn's orbit! What is VERY interesting is the alignment and 'where' the other planets are at on the model. Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune were ALL on the opposite side of the Sun! In fact, all of the Jovian planets AND the inner solar system planets were contained on the opposite side of the sun leading up to the earthquake and it's discovery on December 28th, 2011 and the formal announcement on September 21, 2012.

So where is ISON at today and where are all of the Jovian planets and the inner solar system planets?

[link to img196.imageshack.us]

Does not appear to have changed much in the last two years!

cheche

So what examples of 'change' in the solar system have we observed?

Well, back a while ago there was a 'hexagonal' hurricane that formed over the north pole of Saturn...

Recently, it was announced in February of 2013 that Venus is 'slowing down'.

And yet back in Jan of 2011, NASA released this video?

Why???

Oddly, rewinding JPL back to Jan 1981 is interesting. Where were all of the planets oriented and where was comet ISON?

[link to img442.imageshack.us]

All of the planets were clumped to the lower left of the disc! Were there any noticeable effects? If one asks that question in regard to earthquakes, a quick search from the USGS pulls up some interesting results. There were 40+ significant world wide quakes that year, including a 7.0 in the Samoa region.

So let us jump ahead to Jan 1995, where were all of the planets at and where was ISON?

[link to img687.imageshack.us]

All of the planets were in the lower right portion of the disc and ISON had just passed the orbit of Pluto. Again, any noticeable effects? USGS shows over 100+ significant earthquakes for the year!

Odd and probably coincidence!

So I thought, well lets use the JPL model and see if we notice anything happening to our solar system as ISON approaches, these were the results.

And then there is this whole, giant hole at the top of the sun business going on!
