Original Message In 1951, William F. Buckley was recruited into the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA); he served for two years including one year in Mexico City working as a political action specialist in the elite Special Activities Division for E. Howard Hunt.

In other words, he officially quit the CIA so that he could be a covert operative.

Given his relationship with Hunt, he was obviously the umbrella man, who was the coordinated signal man of the Kennedy assassination.
