It talked about new changes. One bullet-point stated, "Reporting the value of your medical coverage on your W-2." There was no other explanation. So, you ObamaCare lovers - does this mean that if you have your appendix out and the hospital bill is $50K (like my son's was), you will have to pay taxes on this $50K insurance paid? That will break people. It's already difficult for people to meet their portions of medical care. Certainly they don't expect us all to pay premiums, co-pays, our portions of the bills, and then taxes on the portions the insurance companies pay on our illnesses and preventative care (which they are forcing on us)? Any experts out there who can answer this question for me???
No, you won't have to pay taxes on the money the insurance pays for your care. But, if you get any kind of insurance from your employer, you will have to pay taxes on the amount your employer pays to the insurance company for you. Lots of people are going to be really ticked off soon!
Yes, I believe this is how it will work. You pay taxes on the premiums your employer pays for your insurance. Totally sucks and may be just enough to put many in a higher tax bracket as well. .
