Original Message Lao Airlines plane with about 40 passengers crashes into Mekong in Laos

An ART twin-turbo plane carrying about 40 passengers has crashed into the Mekong River as it came into land at an airport in Laos, media reports say.

There were no immediate reports on casualties, according to the Bangkok Post newspaper.

The plane had taken off from the capital Vientiane and was attempting to land at an airport in Paske, in the south of the country.

The crash occurred in bad weather about 4pm local time.
