[quote:Anonymous Coward 46805758:MV8yNDEyOTk3XzQxMzgxOTUxXzY3MkI5M0Q0] [quote:Anonymous Coward 46805758:MV8yNDEyOTk3XzQxMzgxOTAwXzZENUI1NzA3] Betelgeuse is 600 light years from Earth. that means that when we see its Super-Nova explosion occur, that means that it actually happened 600 years ago, and we are just now seeing it (because that's how long it took the light from the explosion to reach earth.) (note: it take sun light 8 minutes to reach Earth, at only 93,000,000 miles away) [/quote] and, any material plasma or bowling balls, or stuff like that, will take at least 1200 years to reach us, because they will only be traveling at half the speed of light. I saw it last night and it was YELLOW instead of the usual red. According to wikipedia, Betelgeuse will enter a brief yellow phase before going supernova.
