[quote:The Årtist:MV8yNTYxMzgyXzQ0NTE3MjYwXzM3MjIwRjc0] [quote:Anonymous Coward 56503049:MV8yNTYxMzgyXzQ0NTE2NDI1XzlGMTUyNTI4] The CDC is near Atlanta.
It's not "near" Atlanta, it's IN Atlanta. I live in Atlanta Metro. There's almost 6 million people here. Delta, Home Depot, CocaCola and tons of others are located here. We have the world's busiest airport and the worst road planning. Only about 20% of Atlantans are from Atlanta, 80% transplant population here. Kasim Reed, the mayor, is only 44, so I'm going to say he's going to be getting a promotion from Mayor. In the event of a disaster, either natural or manmade, Atlanta is completely screwed, BIG TIME. The THREAT of snow and you cannot buy milk or bread. Stores are emptied because people think they need to stockpile for two days of being stranded in their homes because of 4 inches of snow. You remember what happened this past winter when we got some snow and ice? 12 hour car rides home just to go 20 miles. People simply abandoning their vehicles. Our road system simply cannot handle normal traffic here, let alone an emergency. In the event of something like 9/11 happening in Atlanta... man, I'm glad my studio is at my home. Our transit system is abysmal and millions would be trapped, unable to escape the downtown and Buckhead areas, it would be a gridlocked deathtrap. Sanity and groceries would break down in hours, not days. I live OTP, that's Outside The Perimeter, I tell people I live outside the blast radius (not really as there would be more than one for a city as large and economically important as Atlanta. This is why I have a 30 minute evac plan. Not going into details on it, but we only need 30 minutes to GTFO.
