Officially named Asteroid 2014 HQ124, the giant hunk of space mass has been nicknamed the Beast because, at an estimated size of over 1,000 feet wide, it is roughly the size of a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier. 2014 HQ124 was discovered on Apr. 23 by NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) spacecraft.
