[quote:Anonymous Coward 116854:MV8yNjE3NzhfNDYzNjIwOF9GNDg2OEIzRg==] [quote:Anonymous Coward 116975] My husband is a cop, and he says that if you have a common name with someone who is wanted, a social security number will be asked to make sure you are not the person who is wanted
Then you barter. If they can prove they have a wanted warrant for your name easily you will give them your social so you will both not be delayed.
Long story short, some guy kicked my car at a stoplight this morning. trying to be level headed and not esculate the violence I stayed in my car and called the police. I the officer met me at a nearby location where I parked my car and took down my report. However one of the things he asked me was for my social security number.. Atthe time I was shaken and my nerves were rattled.. but now that I am calmer and looking back I fail to see any reason for an officer to ask me such a question.
