A mysterious disease seems to be striking a region in Georgia, one that has local scientists and health officials both baffled and alarmed. According to a story in the Fayette Citizen, the birds and insects of north Fayette and south Fulton counties have been disappearing, the dogs and cats are sick and dying, and many of the human residents in at least one area have been ill for the past several months.
The presumed cause stems from an "onion-like chemical odor" which reportedly first showed up during the Memorial Day holiday. One theory is that the smell comes from the chemical odorant and pesticide MOCAP; others are not so sure. Symptoms, for the dogs and cats as well as the humans, include vomiting, diarrhea, skin irritation, and problems with breathing. The main difference is that some of the smaller animals have died.
Notably, the story said, of the animals so far identified as sick or dying, nearly all live within a two-mile radius of the Philips Services Corp. plant on Georgia Highway 92
p.s. I noticed spoiled onion smell on and off for 2 months in TX area...I've been sick on and off too with intestinal issues anyone else?
