Pyongyang, December 1 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to the construction site of the Ryesonggang Power Station. After being briefed on the construction of the power station before a huge painting showing a panoramic view of the power station, he went round the construction site to learn in detail about the progress made in the project.
The Ryesonggang Power Station now under construction in a good place has been designed in such a way as to strictly abide by the principle of profitability, he said. He was greatly satisfied to see one more structure of eternal value rising and highly appreciated the feats performed by the constructors.
He praised the Kangdong Hydro-Power Station Construction Complex engaged in the construction of the Ryesonggang Power Station as a construction force of merits as it has built the Jangjagang Power Station, the Sodusu Power Station and the Thaechon Power Station and many other large power stations, making a great contribution to realizing the electrification in the country. He called for glorifying this proud tradition of struggle.
It is a signal success that the Party members and other working people of North Hwanghae Province and the complex are successfully building the modern power station even under the hard conditions, holding aloft such a slogan reflecting faith as "As the Party decides, so we do!" he said, adding that this astonishing miracle is a brilliant fruition born by the inexhaustible strength of the people single-mindedly united around the Party.
After setting the phases for the construction of the above-said power station, he said in order to ensure effectiveness of investment it is necessary to commission the power station ahead of schedule so as to produce electricity as soon as generators are installed.
He called on the constructors of the power station to fully display the heroic stamina of Songun Korea with redoubled courage in the revolutionary soldier spirit, the revolutionary spirit of fortitude to complete the project earlier than scheduled.
Noting that to build hydro-power stations is not only economical but a shortest-cut to satisfactorily meeting the increasing demand for electricity, he underlined the need to continue thoroughly implementing the WPK's policy of constructing minor hydro-power stations in a big way along with large ones.
A lot of power stations have been built in all parts of the country including Jagang and North Phyongan Provinces and North and South Hamgyong Provinces and Kangwon Province in recent years to pay off profusely and new ones are now under construction one after another, he noted, stressing that if the country fully uses its rich hydro-power resources, it will bring about a signal turn in settling the problem of electricity in the near future.
