What happened to them suddenly? Don't want to go political, but Trump promised if elected that NASA will start exploring the space again and stop bullshit that they are doing.
If the rumors are true, he's certainly looking at accelerating plans to return to lunar orbit. http://spacenews.com/nasa-to-study-launching-astronauts-on-first-sls-mission/ Putting humans on the first flight of the SLS rocket is ballsy. The space shuttle was the first and only time we strapped humans into the first flight of a new rocket, and only because the shuttle couldn't fly unmanned - even the Soviets put in the extra effort to fly the Buran unmanned first (though their project was mothballed before it could fly with humans). If Trump turns EM-1 from an unmanned to a manned mission it will almost certainly get us back to the moon before the Chinese or anyone else can do it, but it had better not result in any astronaut fatalities or Trump will be guaranteeing himself a one term presidency. So, like I said, ballsy, but I'd volunteer to be strapped in if given the chance lol.
Here's a photo I took of the EM-1 Orion capsule being prepared at KSC last year: http://h.dropcanvas.com/400zi/IMG_3121.JPG I was just inches from one of its windows, which is being fitted with sensors to see how it handles the thermal stresses of its deep space mission. http://h.dropcanvas.com/400zi/IMG_3131.JPG
Cool shit Astro! On Feb. 15, NASA and the University of California, Berkeley launched a new website that allows anyone to help search for cosmic objects located beyond the orbit of Neptune, the farthest planet from Earth.
Known as Backyard Worlds: Planet Nine, the website contains several images, which were captured by the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer mission years ago, that have been turned into flipbook movies.
NASA wants the public to hunt for the mysterious Planet Nine, which scientists postulate might be the ninth planet of the solar system. The space agency believes releasing the images to the public will help narrow down the search for Planet Nine.
"There are too many images for us to search through by ourselves," NASA said.
