When you come up from the basement, pick up your underwear from off the floor and put it in the laundry room. Oh, brush your teeth, too. Your breath smells terrible. Your Mac and Cheese is on a TV in the living room. I get to choose the show tonight.
wtf do you expect young ppl to do if you set all the controls to make property values increase indefinitely? you robbed them of personal property then you ridicule them for living with their parents? youre just a bunch of half dad cranky assholes who wont die.
How in the world have I robbed you of your personal property?
The boomer generation owns all the affordable housing and they are trying to rent out housing at the cost of buying a house. One might wonder why people would pay rent that high? Because a first time starter has no bank roll and no credit history == they can't buy a house. Not to mention, wages are tanked. If you can't figure that out, you're part of the problem.
The old homeplace that I bought from my siblings I rent out to a young man and his wife for $250/mo. They are good hard workers who- like you said above- are just getting started. The house is in good shape but they do all repairs if needed and they take good care of the place. Don't you dare lump all boomers in a greedy basket. We are not all alike. Thing is I could use the extra $200 I could get for the house but I made a choice to rent it to them and give them a break. They are wonderful hard working young people who need this chance.Once upon a time someone gave me a chance and I'm passing it on.
Wish there were more like you. My great grandmother was that way (born-1919). She helped so many people.
LOL I was born in the early 50's but that's the way I was raised. I've also discovered that what you "pay forward" will come back to you. These wonderful kids/young people help me just by taking care of the place. I don't have the money to hire someone to take care of it or fix leaks, etc. They were eager to accept all responsibility for that. They call me and let me know if there's a problem and what needs to be done then they do it. If it's a big expense we barter with the rent money. I would not do this for everyone. There are many that would take advantage and trash the place. These guys won't. So I'm blessed with responsible young folks being there.
That's cool. My g-grandmother helped people by renting to nice but needy people much cheaper than the going rate. She was very intuitive about people. Apparently she rented to some older woman who was a widow for 30 years for some ridiculously low price and never went up on the rent- plus made sure it was kept up nicely for her. My other relatives are nice, but it's for their family, not "outsiders".
just caught this thread
Thread: I feel bad for millennials, they don't have a chance
the pity approach will work for only so long.
the fact is Millennials got screwed by the very person who wrote that post, but they haven't accepted it.
THEIR FUTURE WAS STOLEN IT DIDNT JUST EVAPORATE.
AND THEY WILL EVENTUALLY TAKE IT BACK.
Im in Florida all I see around me are these old people, regular folks, living it up like it's 1999. Since when does becoming a senior citizen entitle one to a 20 year vacation from reality?
it's coming boomers.... soon.
