Toward the end of that first year of the war, a proposal was made for some recognition for conspicuous gallantry in action to be awarded but the commanding general of the army, Gen. Winfield Scott, did not like the idea. He thought it to be a European tradition and said no. It was left to the Secretary of the Navy, Gideon Welles, to resurrect the idea for an award for valor and on Dec. 21, 1861, Abraham Lincoln signed the law creating the Navy Medal of Valor.:siren2: :wtfdoom: :deviltard: [/quote] I'll have a grande red-eye with a blueberry scone please. It's unbelievable that people are still being this retarded in the military. The reason they'er hitting the badge is because it has two spikes on it that pierce the chest since they don't put the stops on the back of the spikes. I'm sick of seeing this type of retarded behavior in the military. It needs to go away.
