[quote:Anonymous Coward 17171360:MV80MjM4MTNfMzE1MDQwODVfQjhGOEJFODk=] [quote:Anonymous Coward 856055:MV80MjM4MTNfMjI1NDQxNjNfQzYxOEUwQzY=] Alot of the Foursquare church doctrine is unscriptural. I'd have to say it's a borderline cult.
Really?? Just what is so unscriptural? I'm a Pastor with Foursquare Churches in Canada, and I have not heard nor seen anything unscriptural within Foursquare Doctrine ever. And I am very big on lining up with what the Bible says alone. That's what attracted me to Foursquare in the first place. They actually strive to be Biblically-based in all their doings (though not perfect at it) it is our goal. Yeah, so our founder Aimee Semple McPherson had issues... don't we all. Read your Bible, David was an adulterer and a murderer, Abraham lied to Pharoah, Gideon was a coward and Peter was a hypocrite... the list goes on. God uses imperfect, uneducated, frail people. That's why he gets all the glory and credit that only He as "GOD" deserves. When people ask questions on forums like these they are looking for knowledgable and credible answers, not "Oh I think..." If you don't know, don't answer. I know personally that the Foursquare Church is no cult. Foursquare itself means JESUS CHRIST as Saviour, Healer, Baptizer in the Holy Spirit, and Soon Coming King.... it's all in the Bible. What defines a cult as such, is their view of the person of Jesus Christ. If an organized group with "quote" "unquote" spiritual leaders views Jesus as anything or anyone other than who He specifically revealed Himself to be according to the Bible alone, then they would be a cult. A church is defined as having the God-man Jesus Christ as their head, and we listen to and follow Him alone. So my friend who asked the question... here's your answer. We're all human, we all make mistakes, we all have been hurt, and have hurt others, but I do know that Foursquare is not a Cult and you will be safe there. Blessings Bro!
Original Message
My buddy invited me to attend his church this morning. It is a Foursquare Church. Wonder if anyone knows if this is a cult of some kind....
It was started by a woman named Aimee Semple McPherson back in 1928.
