[quote:2XSecretAgent:MV80ODYwMjlfNzQ5MTI1OV9GQjY0QjA2Rg==] [quote:Anonymous Coward 311305] I never said we should surrender. I agree there are other ways of getting the bear. But everyone is still playing the game and not pursuing other ways. If enough people got mad enough, they might turn over that table the man is standing behind and just grab the bear they want. That's ONE way of getting the bear. And that isn't surrendering. Yes it is, another way is to use the system in place to eventually take control of the carnival and remove the offending booth. Grass roots movements can and do bring fruit, they take time, but they do occur. A revolution seldom occurs while the majority of the people continue to prosper. Keep in mind even the majority of the "poor" in this country are fat and eat regularly, or housed, or sheltered, and can seek and get medical attention (poor attention but attention none the less). The country will not turn over the table as long as it is not in there best interest to do so.
You're right. This is why I have no hope in seeing things change in this country in my lifetime. Things haven't gotten bad enough for the majority of the people to give a shit. But I don't believe you can use this system in place and eventually take control. It's way past the time when that might have been possible.
For the last few months as everyone has rallied around their candidate of choice - some becoming nearly rabid over the issues, I've said time and time again, the electoral system is so corrupt and the elections are a sham providing the masses with a distraction and the allusion of power as they vote. The reality is that we have no power through participating in the electoral process.
Now everyone who's candidate didn't win tonight, or last week, is screaming "voter fraud" and seems so shocked that perhaps their votes really aren't worth the paper they are cast on - if indeed there is a paper trail, which there probably isn't.
Wake up people. We lost this country 8 years ago.
