[quote:Anonymous Coward 396572:MV81MjM5NzhfODA2NDE5N19ERjk0MjhFMw==] [quote:Anonymous Coward 262375] In any kind of sane society, wanting to be a police officer would automatically disqualify you from the job. I believe that the only way a police force can work is if it is conducted in a neighborhood-watch style fashion, where all the adults in the community serve as police officers in their communities for one month out of the year. It would put a huge damper on corruption, people wouldn't hate and fear the police because they'd be your neighbors, and officers would not get burnt out after doing the same horrible job day in and day out. I think that anyone who desires that kind of power and authority over other people on a permanent basis is seriously sick. And I'm not saying sick to be insulting, I think that there is literally something wrong with anyone who wants to control other people.
same thing in politics. no paid politicians. we ALL serve, or what's the point? this year, thanks to Ron Paul, I have gotten involved in the political process and am now a delegate to Georgia where I can cast a REAL vote for president. I'm paying my own way.
Really? I would like some cops input on how much and what kind of training they get. Maybe how they are told to conduct themselves.
I just heard on the radio yet another story of a cop tasering a 17 year old boy because he was "coming at him agressively". Not with a weapon mind you. So we've got cops using tazers on everyone from pregnant women, kids, and disabled people in wheel chairs.
Do they really not teach cops how to handle themselves in a way that they could physically disable someone without possibly killing them?
To tell you the truth, it just seems to me that laziness is the reasoning behind using these tasers so much.
